Raw Truth: What You Should Know About Dairy
There’s a risk when consuming any raw foods, from meat to veg.
If raw milk is produced and sourced properly, I believe it can be a safer option than pasteurised milk.
Raw milk from cows or goats that are pasture raised is the best.
Raw dairy is a nutrient-rich food offering numerous health benefits when responsibly sourced from clean, grass-fed, and well-managed farms. It is a powerhouse of essential vitamins such as A, D, and K2, which play critical roles in maintaining strong bones, enhancing immune function, and promoting cardiovascular health by aiding calcium absorption and distribution in the body.
Unlike pasteurized dairy, raw dairy retains its natural enzymes, such as lactase, lipase, and phosphatase, which not only help improve nutrient absorption but also make it more digestible for some individuals, including those with lactose sensitivities. Additionally, raw dairy contains probiotics and beneficial bacteria that support a healthy gut microbiome, which is essential for digestion, immune system regulation, and overall well-being. There are many studies showing that children who grow up drinking raw milk, have lower rates of asthma, eczema and allergies.
Raw milk, cream, butter, and cheese are excellent sources of high-quality protein and healthy fats, providing lasting energy, promoting muscle repair, and supporting hormonal balance. These fats include omega-3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), known for their anti-inflammatory and heart-protective properties. Moreover, raw dairy products are often richer in flavour and nutrient density compared to their processed counterparts, as they are free from the nutrient degradation caused by high-temperature pasteurization. When consumed responsibly and obtained from reputable farms prioritising animal health and hygiene, raw dairy can be a nourishing and wholesome addition to a balanced diet, offering a natural and minimally processed way to meet your body’s nutritional needs.

Full-fat foods, like full-fat yoghurt, are beneficial because they provide essential nutrients, including fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) that require fat for absorption. Healthy fats also help maintain balanced hormones, promote feelings of fullness, and provide a steady source of energy. Unlike low-fat alternatives, full-fat options are less processed and free from added sugars, making them a more natural and satisfying choice for overall health.
